Elevator shafts are the largest vertical penetration in a building. Smoke Guard makes flexible containment solutions for building code smoke protection requirements at the elevator opening and surrounding areas. Invented by an architect to specifically prevent smoke migration via the elevator hoistway door, Smoke Guard’s smoke and fire curtains are an ICC approved alternative to an enclosed elevator smoke lobby or shaft pressurization.

In buildings three stories and above smoke control is required and mechanical evacuation systems can be costly and complex to design. Moving stairs and staircases offer unique challenges for code compliance. These deployable fabric enclosures are available in many shapes and configurations to protect those areas while blending with the project design allowing designers to reduce or avoid expensive smoke evacuation.
